Here
is your chance to learn how to play music!
We started a guitar lesson program at Route 60
Music
Company in September 2001, approximately 9
months after
the store opened for business and it has grown
from
having 20 students and one guitar teacher to
over 300
students and 11 teachers! We now give instruction on guitar, bass, piano/keyboard, drums, banjo, fiddle and voice...and we always try to keep it fun. We are ready
to teach you almost any style of music. Should you
want
to learn rock, country, blues, jazz or
classical guitar,
we will provide you with the the tools and
techniques
to help you on your way.We have quality
teachers that
are patient, talented, and take pride in the
fact that
they are given the ability to share their
knowledge
of the music with the local community. ..................................................... Frequently
Asked Questions How much are lessons? Lessons are $15.00 a half-hour and $30.00 an
hour (if
you’ve never played guitar before, then 30
minutes
is all you need). Students usually pay a month
at a
time and take a once weekly private lesson. Do you have to learn how to read music
to learn
how to play? We teach a person how to play by using
different techniques
that don’t require reading music, like guitar
tablature and chord charts. But, if you do
want to learn
how to read music, all of our teachers
can show
a student how to apply it to thier instrument. On what days do you teach lessons and how
often should
I take them? We offer guitar lessons Monday thru Saturday,
usually
from 10:00am to 8:00 pm. Students do a lot
better when
they have a lesson once a week. A regular
schedule helps
a beginning student keep a more consistent
practicing
routine. How long does it take for me to learn a
song? If a
student practices,
at least, 20 to 30 minutes a day, they will be
able
to play songs that friends and family can
recognize
within a few lessons. Obviously how much practice time and study the student puts in directly affects the time frame for progress. What’s an ideal age to start learning
how to play the guitar? We have started students playing the guitar at
the average
age of 7 years old to the ripe old age
of…….well,
you get the picture. The ideal age seems to be 10 to 12 but it really depends on the
attention
span, focus, hand strength and size, and discipline
of the
student. Do I need to bring a guitar and guitar
amp to
my lesson? Yes, you do need to bring your guitar (picks,
tuners,
reading glasses, etc.,) and no you don’t need
to bring your amp. Should a student start learning on an
acoustic, acoustic/electric
or electric guitar? Some teachers have their own opinion, but we
are just
glad you are here to learn how to play. All of our instructors
are professional musicians that not only can
teach you
how to play music, they can instruct you
on many aspects of music including song-writing, music theory,
how to
read music and performance tips. We hope to teach you exactly what you want to learn. How
do I sign up? First thing to do is choose the best time and
day that
is right for you, and then call Route 60 Music
Company
at 1-304-736-7466 or call Scott Stephens
“Senior
Instructor” at 1-304-412-2054, and we will
sign
you up with an instructor that can accommodate
you with
the time and day that you need. Also, if there
is an
instructor that you request, we will try our
best to
make sure that you get that teacher. Thank You for considering learning to play at Route 60 Music Co.
